Information reaching RantHQ, that some unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked Okigwe LGA Correctional Service center in Umualomoke community area of Imo state.
According to the Imo State Police Command who confirmed the report, revealed that the gunmen stormed the Farm Settlement, released seven inmates, abducted an officer on duty and killed a police inspector.
Confirming the incident in a statement by the police spokesman, Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Special Tactical Squad to go all out in synergy with the military and other sister security agencies and hunt down those responsible for the attack.
It was also confirmed that the gunmen attacked a lawmaker representing Imo North Senatorial District, Patrick Ndubeze, who stays within the area.
However, the police commissioner directed his team to go after the kidnappers and rescue the other officer and bring him back unhurt.
He also pleaded with the general public who may have any useful information not to hesitate in reaching out to the nearest police station to give a report.
