Edo Driver Set Traffic Official Ablaze For Taking His Bus To The Station

A yet-to-be identified commercial bus driver who is currently on the run, has set an official of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA), ablaze for taking his bus to their station.

According to report, the incident which happened on Friday, February 9 in Benin, revealed that the driver who was driving a bus with plate number, Osun FFE145XA, had beat the traffic light at Adesuwa Junction, along Sapele Road.

Thereafter, one of the officials was asked to take the vehicle to the office of the EDTSMA and in the process, the driver stripped himself naked, took a keg of petrol from his vehicle, poured it on the EDTSMA official who was already seated in the bus and set him on fire.

When the EDTSMA spokesperson, Roland Owolabi was contacted, he said he is not aware of the incident but promised to get back to the media soon.

However, a viral video of the ugly incident was seen on the internet and a voice was heard saying;“

The driver committed a traffic offence, and officers of Zone 2 Enforcement Team apprehended him and asked him to gently take the bus to the base but he refused.

“He resisted arrest and started fighting everyone, at the end of the day one of the officers was asked to take the bus to the base, the driver brought out petrol, got himself naked, poured the petrol on the officer in the bus and set him ablaze.

“As we speak, the officer is receiving treatment in a hospital here in Benin City. The bus driver is on the run,” the person added
