The legal teams representing Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (Labour Party) have opened up on the reasons they are yet to go ahead with their appeal against President Tinubu at the Supreme Court.
It was gathered that that the tribunal reportedly threw out petitionsfl filed by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively against President Bola Tinubu having lack merit.
It was however gathered that both President candidates publicly state their plans to appeal the tribunal’s judgement at the Supreme Court.
Both parties were given 14-day time frame according to the constitution for them to appeal against Tinubu which ends on Wednesday, September 20.
According to Atiku’s legal team, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), said
“We are filing the appeal as soon as possible, within the constitutional and statutory period. All the lawyers are retained. Our team is intact and as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar.”
In the same vein, the national legal adviser of the Labour Party Kehinde Edun said “We have not filed the appeal yet because we are still within the time frame. It will be done any moment from now.”
“Our legal team is still intact. They are some of our best hands. There is no reason to change them since we do not doubt their capabilities,” he noted.
Accordingly, the lead counsel to Peter Obi Dr. Livy Uzoukwu also said, “We are on it. We have not fixed a date to submit.”
