Super Eagles Forward Victor Osimhen as well as 29 other players have been nominated for the 2023 FIFA Ballon d’Or for the first time in his fledging career.

Osimhen made the 30 man list of nominees for the prestigeous award alongside seasoned campaignera in Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and a host of other top football stars.

Currently with the Super Eagles preparing for the fourth coming 2024 African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Uyo, Osimhen made headlines last season helpimg Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time since1990

Osimhen becomes the first Nigerian to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award since Nwankwo Kanu made the nomination list in 1999. It will be interesting to see if he makes the final cut of three before the winner is announced later in the year.
