Who Is John Owan Enoh, the New Sports Minister Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria?

following the confirmation of ministerial appointment yesterday , Senator John Owan Enoh becomes Nigeria’s next minster of Sports and the first to hold the singular portfolio as the Sports Ministry for the first time is a seperate entity from that of Youth Development Ministry.

Born in 1966, Senator John Owan Enoh hails from Agbokim waterfalls in Etung local government area of Cross River state. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology , Masters in Demography and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management all at the University of Calabar.

Senator Enoh lectured for seven years between 1991 to 1997 at the same institution of the University of Calabar before stepping into Politics, serving as a minority leader and later on chairman of committee of information at the Cross River State house of Assembly between q997 and 2003.

He then proceeded to the National Assembly, representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency for a period of 12 years between 2003-2015 and later on becoming a Senato in 2015. He was also the All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate for Cross River State in 2019.

Senator John Owan Enoh effectively replaces Sunday Dare who was in charge of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development between 2019 and 2023. He is the country’s 36th Minister of Sports.
