ICYMI : Manchester City Thrashes Burnley 3-0 To Begin Premier League Title Defence

Manchester City began their Premier League title defence with a convincing 3-0 win over newly promoted Burnley away from home at the Turf Moor Friday evening

Pep Guardiola ‘s men wasted no time as they took the lead after just 4 minutes on the clock , with Erling Haaland on hand to score the season’s opening Premier League goal after Rodri found him with a neat pass.

The Norwegian forward was at it again as he extended City’s advantage in the 36th minute with Julian Alvarez on hand to tee him up with a pass.

City dominance did however come at a cost and before Haaland got his Second, captain Kevin De Bruyne picked up a knock 24 minutes in. The Belgian left the pitch subsequently -wkth Mateo Kovacic coming on to replace him.

Rodri made such of the 3 points as he got City’s third , tapping in from close range after the rebound fell to him in the 76th minute.

Yet again and like we have seen a number of times before, Erling Haaland was denied the chance of getting a hatt-trick with Pep Guardiola pulling him for Cole Palmer after 80 minutes. Josko Gvardiol also made his debut in the game coming on for Rico Lewis as well.

Before the end of the one sided contest,, Substitute Anass Zahouryleft the pitch after picking up a straight red card as the Clarets ended the game with 10 men.
