The Super Falcons of Nigeria put up an impressive showing against the European Champions England in their round of 16 ties but came up short following the end the game that last 120 minutes without a goal.
randy Waldrum’s girls eventually lost on penalties after Substitute Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missed their spot kick , handing the Lionesses the win despite Georgia Stanway’s earlier miss.
That said, how did the likes of Chiamaka Nnadozie and Co fared during the course of the game? Here is how they fared….
Chiamaka Nnadozie : Covered herself in glory yet again, commanding her area very well and when tested, she did excellently well. Couldn’t do much during the penalty shootout but that didn’t change how much she was valuable to the team all game. Rating : 7/10

Michelle Alozie: Aside the costly penalty shootout miss, the Houston Dash fans’ favourite had a solid game at Right back and did as much going forward as she did defensively. Rating : 7/10

Osinachi Ohale : As always very dependable at the heart of the defense. She never gave England’s Alessia Russo time on the ball and rarely put a foot wrong in the course of doing her duties at the back as well. Rating : 7/10
Oluwatosin Demehin : The Stade Reims’ centre back was as well very good at the heart of the Falcons’ rear guard and with Ohale, they were rock solid , not letting the English have too much time on the ball in dangerous areas. Rating : 7/10

Ashleigh Plumptre : The former Leicester City player was again a joy to watch . Never did she put a foot wrong during the course of the game. She was as good doing her defensive job and also in going forward to assist when the Falcons had to attack. Rating : 7/10
Christy Ucheibe: If there was anyone who gave everything out there on the field of play , it was Christy Ucheibe. For 12p minutes of action, she worked her socks off , helping the team keep their defensive discipline as one of the two pivots. Rating : 7/10
Halimatu Ayinde : Had a decent game as well and as one of the team’s pivot in from of the defense, she rose to the occasion for 90 minutes. Rating : 7/10

Toni Payne : Not one of her best days as the team’s attacking midfielder but not also a bad day for the Sevilla player. Worked her socks off in helping the team push forward and in keeping their defensive discipline as well.Rating : 7/10
Uchenna Kanu : Had some good moments on the right side of the team’s attack but still not one of her best days as well. Rating : 6/10

Rasheedat Ajibade : Looked lively everytime she was on the ball and did her best trying to create something worthy of note upfront as well. Her work rate was top tier to say the least as she also tracked back to help the team without the ball. Rating : 7/10
Ifeoma Onumonu: Worked hard despite being isolated upfront for much of the minutes she had on the pitch of play. A decent showing . Rating : 6/10
The Substitutes
Assisat Oshoala : Was perhaps the only one of the four substitute who threatened to change the course of the game during the latter stages of the second half. However, she could do so little to get Nigeria over the line. Rating : 6/10
Francesca Ordega , Onyi Echegini and Desire Oparanozie : The trio didn’t really do much to earn a rating but they as well gave their best in helping the team see the team through to its conclusion.
