Messi’s brace against Dallas aided Inter Miami to the quarter-final of the League Cup.

Messi’s brace against FC Dallas in the round of 16 of the League Cup has helped Inter Miami reach the quarter-final following a 4-4 vigorous tie that eventually ended in a penalty shoot-out which went in the favour of Miami.

Messi scored Miami’s crucial first goal and last goal in the 6th and 80th minute respectively. The first goal was scored after a sublime assist from former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba. FC Dallas also responded, by leveling all goals scored – ending the game at 4-4. 

Inter Miami earned its spot in the Round of 16 of the competition after winning both of the team’s group stage fixtures and most recently defeating rivals Orlando City SC 3-1 at DRV PNK Stadium thanks to a brace from Messi and a goal from Josef Martínez in the Round of 32

Since moving to Miami, Messi has scored seven goals in all four games he has featured for the club – helping the American side remain unbeaten in their last 4 games.

At DRV PNK Stadium, Miami will host the quarterfinal matchup between Charlotte FC and Houston Dynamo, whose winner will advance.
