Christopher Nkuku is set to miss Chelsea’s EPL opener against Liverpool due to injury.

Chelsea forward Christopher Nkuku who joined the club from RB Leipzig this summer is set to miss Chelsea’s first Premier League game against Liverpool after the confirmation of his injury sustained in their 1-1 pre season game against Dortmund

Nkuku was withdrawn after 20 minutes clutching his legs while sitting helpless on the ground.

Pochettino was able to confirm the issue and the extent of the problem when he spoke post-match.

‘The doctors are checking him and I hope it is not a big issue. He fell in the action which was maybe a penalty and he feels something in his knee but we hope it is nothing big,’ Pochettino confirmed.

“We hope he can be back quickly with the team. We need a few days to assess him.’

Perhaps the pitch was a factor in the injury but Mauricio was keen not to blame the conditions, and says he will take responsibility for any risk involved.

‘We took some risks because the pitch is not perfect because the facilities are used for a different sport. We won’t blame the pitch for the injury though. For me, it was bad luck.’

The French forward has suffered streaks of injuries lately missing out on the 2023 World Cup following an injury he sustained during the French training.
