2023 FIFA WWC : Australia Seals Group B top spot with 4-0 thrashing of Canada

Co- host Australia secured a place in the round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup following their 4-0 win over Canada at the Rectangle Stadium in Melbourne.

The Co-host knew what they had to do to make it into the round of 16 and that they achieved in some fashion

The Aussies broke the lead in the 9th minute as Hayley Raso was on hand to slot home. She doubled their advantage in the 39th minute before Mary Fowler made it three in the 58th minute.

Late in the game, the Aussie grabbed a fourth courtesy of an added time spot kick by Stephanie Catley..

The result earns Australia Group B top spot and ahead of Nigeria. The Nigerians were held to a goalless draw by Debutant Ireland in Brisbane.
