Niger Republic Soldiers responsible for a coup in the country have replied the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) warning them against use of troops to the country for them to give up power.

The Niger Republic Soldiers maintain their readiness to defend their land should ECOWAS use military. According to General Abdourahmane Tchiani, also known as Omar Tchiani, and the military leaders in Niger said in a statement via Niger national television that, “The objective of the ECOWAS meeting is to approve a plan of aggression against Niger through an imminent military intervention in Niamey in collaboration with other African countries that are non-members of ECOWAS, and certain Western countries.“

“We want to once more remind ECOWAS or any other adventurer of our firm determination to defend our homeland,” Aljazeera quoted the military spokesperson, Colonel Amadou Abdramane.“
