Ingredients required are 5 coconuts, 7 cups of water, grated.

A fresh mature coconut is needed, You can shake it to know how mature it is. If you hear the water sloshing around inside, it is not yet mature. A mature coconut will feel full and heavy. Then place the coconut on a hard surface and give it a few sharp whacks with a hammer or heavy knife. Rotate the coconut as you hit it to create an even crack around the circumference.

C. Then shred the coconut meat, You can do this with a grater or a food processor Then, spread the shredded coconut on a baking sheet and bake it at a low temperature until it’s dry and toasted. Once it’s done, let it cool and then store it in an airtight container until you’re ready to make the coconut oil.

D. After drying the coconut, Start by heating the coconut in a pan over medium-low heat. Once it’s hot, add a cup of coconut oil and stir until it’s melted. Then, pour the mixture into a cheesecloth-lined strainer and let it drain for a few minutes. You can then squeeze the cheesecloth to extract as much oil as possible.

E. Allow the oil cool down then pour it into a glass jar. Your coconut oil is now ready to use.
