Super Falcons forward Asisat became the first African to score at three World Cup. Asisat achieved this feat following her goal in Falcons emphatic 3-2 Victory over co-host Australia this afternoon at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
Oshoala who started from the bench replaced Nigeria’s first goal scorer Kanu Uchenna in the 64th, she aided Falcons to their 3-1 victory just 8 minutes after she came on. Unfortunately the Matildas reduced goal deficits to 3-2 at full time.
The Five time African player of the year has now scored in three consecutive World Cups she has featured in becoming the first player to hit such an important accomplishment.
In the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she scored during Falcons 3-3 full-time results. In the 2019 World Cup, she scored against South Korea and today netted Falcon’s third goal against the 2023 FIFA World World Cup host Australia.
The Ikorodu-born remains the first player to win the African Player of the Year award five times beating Perpetua Nwakocha’s record of four.
