Following the departure of first-team captain and assistants Sergio Bosquet, Gerrard Pique, and Jordi, Barcelona has appointed new captains of the club ahead of the new season.

According to the club, Sergi Roberto will take over the armband as the first captain. He’s joined by goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, center-back Ronald Araujo, and midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The four captains were decided by votes made by Xavi’s men during the club’s pre-pre-season tour.

Roberto will lead the team. as the first captain for the new season. Last season Roberto struggled with playing time in Xavi’s starting team – possibly Ter Stegen could be seen with the band most often.
