Super Falcon number 10 and Benfica player Christy Ucheibe has dedicated her World debut to her late mum.
The 22-year-old who played the entire 90 minutes reminisced on how she watched the 2011 World Cup and had promised her mum that she will make it to the biggest tournament one day – fortunately for Christy, 9 years later Christy’s dream of playing in the World became a reality.
On her Twitter page,e she wrote:
“I remember watching the World Cup 2011 and making a promise to my mum that someday she will watch me play for the Super Falcons at the World Cup.
Although she isn’t with us anymore to have seen it. I am happy to have fulfilled that promise, and I know she would be so proud of me.”
Christy partnered with 19-year-old Deborah Abiodiun playing a deep-lying midfielder role, with a defensive-minded prowess as they were seen playing Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, and Oyedepu Payne.
According to Flashscore Christy had the best player rating of 7.6 along with Nnandozie after the encounter with Canada in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.
