Algeria Captain Riyad Marhez has been left out of Manchester City Pre Season squad as he is near joining Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.
Mahrez has struggled with playing time since manager Pep Guardiola decided to play Bernardo Silva on the right wing. Regardless of his lack of playing time, Marhez was pivotal in City’s journey to the treble last season after scoring a hat trick in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
The 32 years old joined City from Leicester City five years ago and has since then written his name as one of the most decorated African players to have played in the English Premier League.
Mahrez, who is one of the favorites to win this year’s Africa Best Player Award, has won the Premier League Trophy five times, scoring 82 goals and providing 61 assists in 284 league appearances.
