Nigeria athlete, Tobi Amusan has reacted to the possible suspension she could face after she missed three drug tests. Amusan who is set to defend her world record title at next month’s World Athletics Championship in Budapest reveals the update via her Instagram page.
“Today the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has charged me with an alleged rule violation for having 3 missed tests in 12 months.
“I intend to fight this charge and will have my case decided by a tribunal of 3 arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships.
“I am a CLEAN ATHLETE, and I am regularly; (maybe more than usual) tested by the AIU – I was tested within days of my third ‘missed test.’ I have FAITH that this will be resolved in my favor and that I will be competing at the World Championships in August.”
Tobi, who claimed she was charged with missing three drug tests in 12 months could attract a two-year ban – regardless of whether she tested negative or not.
Tobi achieved a landmark feat during last year’s Championship tournament after winning a gold medal in the women’s 100 m hurdles in 12.12 seconds.
