Hepatitis E Virus (HEV), is a small, non enveloped single stranded RNA virus probably of the Calicivirus family. Like Have, it is transmitted by the fecal oral route. Epidemic of HEV have occur in the cities of underdeveloped countries and rural areas of developed countries. Mortality is generally low except in infant and pregnant women, more so, long term carriers and chronic liver diseases are not know to occur.
