A Senegalese goalkeeper died while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea for greener pastures.

According to multiple reports, A Senegalese goalkeeper Mbaya has lost his life while attempting to cross the Mediterranean sea to Spain with his friends. Mbaya until his death was the goalkeeper of the Senegalese club ASC Thiawalene where he played for years. 

His club through their Facebook page confirmed his demise with their condolence message:

“It was with great sorry and sadness that we learn on Saturday 15th July 2013 Babacar Thiam says MBAYA Blues and White goalkeeper. This young man made his footprint in the neighbouring football history. ASC Thiawlene sympathizes with the pain and expresses sincere condolences to his biological family, the people of Rusfique and the world of round football. 

We deeply regret the death of our friend, goalkeeper, and Champion, and we express our solidarity with his family at this difficult time.”

According to Soccer Planet, Mbaya died while traveling on illegal immigration on the balloon boat, he lost his life in the Mediterranean Sea with a group of people as they tried to cross to Spain for a brighter day.
