Dutch and Atlético Madrid forward Memphis Depay has reacted to Benjamin Mendy’s situation after the French was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape as accuses by multiple women. He was discharged of all rape charges yesterday after he was found not guilty of those charges.
Depay who reacted to the development said, Athletes can no longer accept this happening to them.
Memphis Depay on his Twitter account wrote:
“All cases dismissed.
So, what are we doing now?
Who is going to help this brother heals?
Who’s going to be Responsable for the damage on he’s name?
How he’s going to have he’s career back?
Many years of investment to become a professional football player…. Now what!?
I’ve never touched on this subject because I didn’t know all the details, but I’ve spoken to him once true FaceTime while behind bars and faced him on the pitch a couple times.. I didn’t see any evil in the man.
We can’t accept this to happen to us as athletes.
Who’s going to stand up for us in the time of need not when the damage is already done?
Don’t turn your head, people.”
Last month, Benjamin was released by Manchester City following the expiration of his contract and was the most expensive defender in the world in 2017 when he moved from Monaco to the Cityzen.
Mendy won three Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, and a Community Shield.
With the French National, he was also part of Didier Deschamps’s squad that won the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
