Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) of the English Premier League today confirmed the exit of one of the iconic and controversial referees, Mike Dean. Mike Dean, who retired from officiating in 2021/22, moved to the VAR role in the English Premier, just after a season, the 55 years old ended his 28 years journey in the Premier League.
“PGMOL can confirm that Mike Dean will be leaving the organization this summer.”
Dean began his officiating career in 1985, he progressed through the ranks to an assistant referee and afterward whistled in the Football League in 1995 and 1997 respectively.
In his 878 officiating, Dean has issued 3087 yellow cards, and 104 red cards – becoming one of the referees to have issued the most red cards in football history.
“PGMOL would like to place on record its recognition of Mike’s achievements, as well as his immense contribution to refereeing and the game as a whole.
