Most footballers, including Ronaldo, played for money, not passion – Ighalo.

Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo has asserted his view that most football, including Ronaldo, are playing for the money and not passion in an interview he was granted by Nigeria sports journalist Oma Akatugba.

The 34-year-old forward who also played in the Saudi Pro League where he scored combined goals of 52 and 10 assists said the current transfer of multiple superstars to the Saudi Pro League is inspired by money.

The former Al-Hilal in his interview with the journalist said:

“Those players that would come out and say, we are playing football for passion this and all that, bro, it’s money [they are playing for]. At the end of it all, we are all playing [football] for money.

“Look at those that are going to Saudi Arabia, big players. Ronaldo, is it passion he is still playing for? Ronaldo has made a hundred times what I’ve had in my life, he still went to Saudi Arabia. So, you want to tell me it’s passion? It’s for money, bro,” he added.
