Abuja High Court To Pass Judgment On Emefiele

The Federal High Court in Abuja will today pass its judgment on the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, after challenging the Department of State Service on his fundamental human rights over his arrest and detention.

It was reported that the DSS arrested the embattled governor after being suspended by President Bola Tinubu and ordered immediate investigation of the CBN.

Emefiele however filed a suit, filed through his lawyer,  Joseph Daudu (SAN), before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja alleging a violation of his human rights.

It was gathered that in the suit filed are the Attorney General of the Federation; the Director General of the DSS and the DSS, filed preliminary objections, urging the court to entertain the case and dismiss the suit.

The DSS, through its counsel, I. Awo, presented to Justice Hamza Muazu that Emefiele’s detention was lawful having given order to remand him in custody pending the investigation.
