Wimbledon : Djokovic Seals Quarter Final Berth After Tensed Contest With Hurkacz

Novak Djokovic secured a place in the quarter finals of the on going Wimbledon Championships after a four set battle

Djokovic, who took the first two set by the tie break rule yesterday before the game was cut short because of curfew, lost the third and opening set of the day’s contest.

however, he shrugged off the challenge from Hurkacz to win the contest 7-6 7-6 5-7 6-4 and booked a quarter final meet with Andrey Rublev.

Djokovic was joined in the quarter final stage by Christopher Eubank [ 43rd seed]. The American took out 5th seed Stepanos Tsitaipas after 4 sets 7-6 3-6 6-4 6-4

Elsewhere Danil Medvedev did’nt have to do too much to seal a place in the quarter final stage of the men’s draws, thanks to an early game injury to his opponent, 37th seed Jiri Lehecka.

The Russian had already taken the first set before the unfortunate injury to the Czech tennis player earned him a passage to the next round

Similarly and in the women’s side of the draw, Elina Rybakina went through to the quarter finals after her opponent, Beatriz Haddad Maia picked up an injury during the course of the first set.

Arya Sabalenka joined Elena Rybakina in the quarter finals after dispatching 22nd seed Ekaterina Alexandria 6-4 6-0.

The game between Ons Jabeur of Tunisia and Petra Kvitova is currently on, with Jabeur already leading by a set..
